While Anna had plans to join the show in the ensemble, an ankle sprain placing her in an air cast for six weeks made it impossible for her to attend rehearsals, so she was featured as a burlesque act. This would be the first and only show where rehearsals were held in Parlour twice a week during the day. Rehearsing in the venue had pros and cons, and the limited space both made it easier to create and adapt choreography while making it challenging physically to learn. The choreography itself would also prove to be difficult for the dancers to retain with complex patterning and repetitive phrases. Rehearsals were often tense with frustration as the cast navigated them. Knox encouraged burlesque elements in each of the solos to the level of comfort of each performer, and spent time workshopping the acts. Unable to find an available kitten, Knox stepped into the role.
To help with sales, Laura suggests and helps to facilitate a pre-show workshop series taught by dancers in the show. The idea was to sell classes and show tickets as a package to birthday and bachelorette parties. While the first class runs smoothly with attendance, the last two are cancelled due to lack of sales and engagement. Laura also begins trying to push Anna and Knox to create a pay-to-play dance performance program like Army of Sass, to which Knox and Anna have no interest or desire in doing. The show is moderately attended and makes its proposed budget. However Knox begins to notice Laura’s lack of involvement with the marketing and mounting of the production. While this absence didn’t drastically affect ticket sales, Knox is wary about the effect this could have on future shows. |

Workshops will take place at Parlour Lounge from 7-8pm before the show. Dress in something sassy that you can move in and bring your heels! Props will be provided.
