With the subtitle “Schemes, Scandals and Femme Fatales”, Diamonds and Daggers was a remount of Dangerous Dames and Wicked Little Girls, with more of a focus on film noir as a genre. This was the first show, with Knox’s influence, that put more focus on developing defined characters and plot driven scenes with each act. Solos were performed as genre archetypes: The Gumshoe, the Femme Fatale, the Mob Boss’s Wife, the Cat Burglar, and the Assassin. In fitting with the cinematic theme, kittens were movie theatre ushers and the show was structured as if the audience was watching a movie clip show. The kittens even handed out treats from cigarette boxes between acts. Additional rehearsals were added to this process, with 6 rehearsals at 2 hours each happening at City Dance Corps (where Knox worked at the time). Knox choreographed the group numbers, while Anna directed the kittens in the transitions and cued the sound during the performance. This show was Knox’s debut of her signature Assassin burlesque act. Army of Sass was the opening entertainment, with only two performers. Attendance was poor as Laura was counting on the Army of Sass patronage, but with Carla Catherwood only using two performers from a large group number from their previous show, tickets sales were comparatively poor. However the show was well liked and received by the attending audience.
Before the doors opened, a photographer captured the performers backstage with photos and video. Another photographer helped create promotional and marketing material for future shows as each performer completed their look. BACKSTAGE AND PROMOTIONAL PHOTOS
